Pirate Families,
We have had a wonderful first week of school! It has been great seeing all of our students back on campus and meeting our new 6th graders. We have started some new initiatives this year (I’m sure many of you have seen your child’s new badge) and they are going very well! Your kiddos are really engaged and demonstrating Pirate PRIDE! I am proud to be their Principal, and am grateful for your support!
Please make sure that if your child is arriving by car, they are dropped off in the car loop at the front of the school on 14th Street. Throughout most of the school year, it is dark at arrival, and drivers aren’t always looking for or able to see children crossing the street in random places. Also, as I mentioned in my welcome-back phone call, staff hours do not begin until 6:45 am. This means that if your child is arriving prior to the 6:45 am drop-off time, there will NOT be supervision available. Too early arrival also makes it extremely difficult for staff to even get into the parking lot, further complicating and delaying supervision availability. Please help us keep everyone safe by making sure your children are not here until 6:45 am at the earliest. There are also plans to have our campus fenced in during this school year, including gates, and this will further limit student access to the campus outside regular school hours.
